George Seliger took full advantage of the opportunity to win features twice in the same car, putting together his biggest night of the season at State Park Speedway.

The Wausau racer first won the feature in the Snap-on Mini Mods and then drove the same car to Brickner Family Auto Group Victory Lane in the Midwest Dash Series main, winning twice on a wet Ropa’s Pizza Night at the speedway.

Seliger caught and passed Gary Garand on lap 11 of the mini mods feature event and drove on to his second feature win of the season. Later, he got to the front quickly in the feature for the Midwest Dash Series, a modified four-cylinder tour which he has followed this year and came into the night second in points.

Seliger started 10th in a field of 14 cars but was in first just six laps into the 25-lap race after Garand and Zach Onson made contact while racing for the lead, with Garand spinning to the infield on the backstretch and both sent to the back.

Seliger then won a drag race with Dash series points leader Brandon DeLacy of Stoughton on the restart, emerging after the two were side-by-side for three laps. He pulled away and went on to win for the second time on the series this year, while also snapping DeLacy’s three-race series winning streak.

Seliger’s double highlighted a program that was affected by rain early and late. Persistent showers over the track led to the cancellation of Fred Mueller Qualifying and resulted in racing starting more than an hour behind schedule.

Every effort was made to get the program in with the traveling Midwest Dash Series and Midwest Truck Series tours on hand, and it appeared ready to pay off in full. Feature races were completed in five of six classes, but a light-but-stubborn rain came again during the final race of the night, the 50-lap trucks feature.

Mike Corvo was in the lead early but had just been passed by series points leader Luke Fenhaus of Wausau when the caution flag came out due to rain drops. The field was reset to the last green flag lap, putting Corvo in first, and after nearly 20 minutes of circling the track under yellow trying to keep it dry, the race was finally called after seven laps.

The trucks were making their second stop of the season at State Park Speedway, and Corvo had just taken the top spot from Dave Edwards after a lap five restart following an early spin by Ross Christiansen. Fenhaus-who also leads the super late model weekly point standings at the track-came through the field quickly, moving from eighth to second by lap six, and he took first when Corvo slipped high coming out of turn two on lap eight before the yellow was thrown as the trucks came to the start/finish line.
