Few drivers deliver more excitement on a weekly basis at State Park Speedway than Brian Schramm, and the Wausau racer did so yet again in the Advance Auto Parts Pure Stocks.

Schramm got by Jeff Spatz in the final laps in both of the division’s races, including a late pass in the 25-lap feature race on WCAR Gifts From Heaven night. The win was Schramm’s fourth of the season, most of any driver in the class.

Schramm bided his time in the pack much of the race before getting past Carson Sillars for second on lap 18 and then working outside Spatz on lap 22. He edged ahead over the next three laps, finally clearing for the lead just before the white flag on his way to the win. Schramm also passed Spatz to win by inches at the line in the heat race.

Brock Heinrich also won his fourth feature of the season in the Budweiser Fabiano Brothers Limited Late Models, outdueling Travis Volm in the 15-lap race.

Heinrich and Volm raced side-by-side for five laps in the middle stages of the race, which trading the lead four times before Volm slipped back on the outside while Heinrich drove away. The two have now finished 1-2 each of the last four weeks, with both Heinrich and Volm winning two features in that time.

George Seliger broke into Brickner Family Auto Group Victory Lane in the Snap-On Mini Mods for his first feature win of the season. Seliger snuck inside early leader Gary Garand to take the lead on lap four and led the rest of the race.

The two-time defending champion in the division, Seliger became the sixth driver to win a feature in the mini mods this season. The points race in the division also tightened up when points leader Mike Heidmann had trouble in the form of a stuck throttle causing him to slap the wall in turns one and two on lap 16. Heidmann’s lead over both Seliger and Greg Blount has now been reduced to just 19 points.

Amanda Rowe repeated as winner of the Motors Service & Supply Mini Stocks feature, starting from the pole and leading all 15 laps. The schoolteacher from Mosinee drove away from the pack and won her division-leading third feature of the season, while Kyle Check of Shantytown tied his career-best finish by placing second.

State Park Speedway now gets ready for the 38th annual Larry Detjens Memorial. The two-day weekend will take place Friday, July 27 and Saturday, July 28. The schedule will include the Big 8 Late Model traveling series on Friday night plus mini mods, mini stocks and Bandoleros. Saturday night’s schedule includes the featured super late models, limited late models, pure stocks, mini mods, mini stocks and Bandoleros on Saturday.
